A Fabulous British Raceday

The themed Very British Raceday proved a real hit on Saturday as patriotic racegoers poured in to celebrate all things gloriously British.

Despite the lack of sun, the crowds attending on Saturday 8th June's meeting had a whale of time, with plenty of red, white and blue and Union Jack themed outfits on display. The Donkey Derby was particularly popular, with Paul Mulrennan giving Paddy a peach of a ride and Declan Cannon remounting several times before coaxing a lively Seamus over the line.

The full card of 8 races was an excellent one, and racegoers also enjoyed entertainment from Punch & Judy, coconut shies, hook-a-duck and stiltwalkers.  The Very British sing-song at the end of racing proved a huge hit, with the band and singers cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd to play an encore of Is This the Way to Amarillo. We're already planning next year's event!
