It’s Horse vs Cyclist as Tour de Yorkshire Gets Underway at Beverley Racecourse

There'll be a clash of the Titans in more ways than one on Friday as the Tour De Yorkshire gets underway at Beverley Racecourse.

With the ceremonial start in the town centre, followed by an official start outside the racecourse, all eyes will certainly be on Beverley this year as the top class cycle race, now in its second year and a legacy of the unforgettable 2014 Tour de France Grand Depart, gets underway.

Top riders, from local favourite Bradley Wiggins to last year's winner Lars Petter Nordhaug of Team Sky are racing and should prove a real draw. The riders will leave Beverley town centre around 11.50am, heading through the historic North Bar before starting the race proper outside the course at 12noon, where the 186km lying ahead takes them on some of the 2014 Tour De France route through Tadcaster and Knaresborough before finishing in Settle. The full Stage 1 route can be seen here

However, they might get a surprise as they stream up the Westwood where our team of Tour De Yorkshire horses and riders will be waiting to race them up the racecourse, which runs directly alongside the cycle race route. Who will win - come along this Friday 29th April to watch the spectacle and find out!
