Young Artists Set to Wow at Hop

Young artists emerging from Beverley Folk Festival's Westwood Sessions are set to wow at this year's Sunday Hop, as part of the day's traditionally laid-back entertainment.

The Westood Sessions are run by students, for students, as part of Beverley Folk Festival's commitment to nurture emerging folk talent and give under 25s a place to showcase their abilities. This year's line up includes past, present and future artists from the Sessions and will be a fabulous opportunity to hear some top class performers, watch some exciting racing, and enjoy divine, locally-produced ale from the multiple award-winning Wold Top Brewery.

Here's a run down of this year's acts who will be appearing throughout the afternoon on the Lavender Lawn - if you want to catch them you'll need Grandstand & Paddock or Premier Enclosure tickets for the day.

Sam McKie

Featured on the Area 2 Stage at The Beverley Folk Festival this year and melted everyone with his  amazing voice,  backed up by subtle guitar work.  A singer and voice not to be missed, he has an understated style that will certainly make you sit up and listen.

Sarah Shiels

An authentic solo musician with rich blues vocals, Sarah has been involved with organising and playing at 'The Westwood Sessions' since its birth and continues to gig in the local area both solo and with her band 'The Velvet Dolls'..

Mina Budworth

Mina is a 15-year-old singer/songwriter from Beverley whose vocal tones, particularly her improvisations, are influenced by the haunting melodies of the ethnic rock/fusion band, Celtarabia.
Her acoustic set lists are a delightful collection of covers and her live performance has been described as both serene and perfect.

Ben Cook:

Ben Cook is a 17 year old singer-songwriter, also from Beverley. After purchasing his first guitar aged 14, he started to play at open mic nights in the area. Now he’s earning a reputation as the “Beverley Busker”. He plays Acoustic Folk and Pop music, including both covers and originals. His self-penned songs are catchy, describing the ups and downs of teenage life; always leaving the audience laughing or reminiscing to a relatable time in their lives.

Roisin Ban

Róisín Bán - (Rowsheen Bawn) are a 4 piece band playing predominantly traditional Irish music on fiddle, flute, melodeon & guitar.
