It's the first of our three evening meetings of the 2019 season and the least crowded - take advantage of the opportunity to head down after work and enjoy a relaxed evening of fun and sport as the summer really starts to get underway.
Tonight's meeting features a host of fantastic local charities that do some astonishing work in the region, who will be providing a host of fun fundraising activities so you can support your favourite. Joining us tonight are:
Cash for Kids supports sick, disabled and disadvantaged children living in East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire. Every penny raised stays local supporting the children most in need in our communities. Last year Cash for Kids was able to help 20,562 local children through our grant rounds and Mission Christmas campaign, responding to the needs of children in our communities so they can live life to the full and realise their individual potential.
The work of The Daisy Appeal has made a difference to people in East Yorkshire and North East Lincolnshire. The charity has completed a huge amount at the hospital, building an £8m research centre, which opened in 2008, and creating the £4.5m Jack Brignall PET-CT (Positron Emission Tomography) Scanning Centre in July 2014 which uses a state-of-the-art flow-edge Siemens scanner and accommodates more than 2500 scans per year. Currently all the scans are undertaken on patients with cancer.
Dove House Hospice provides care and support for adults and their families across the city and the East Riding of Yorkshire who have illnesses which can no longer be cured. From medical care to complementary therapy, rehabilitation to social care, the hospice team works together to give patients and their families everything they need to live well for as long as possible. Your support means that the support we offer remains available 24 hours a day at no cost to those who need them.
We exist to support all those affected by or worried about homelessness. Preventing homelessness is at the core of what we do, from finding and settling people in to independent living to ensuring families maintain a safe and secure place to call home. We work to ensure those escaping abuse or exploitation, leaving care or prison have the best possible chance of sustaining positive independent living in the community, raising aspirations and avoiding further crisis and homelessness.
R-evolution are a charity that provide training and life coaching to disadvantaged individuals to help them move towards gaining employment or volunteering opportunities. As a by-product of this project, R-evolution offer affordable bike sales, servicing, repairs and training to the local community. They also run 20 bike libraries in the East Riding in partnership with Yorkshire Bank Bike Libraries which puts bikes in schools and gives children the opportunity to ride a bike if their family cannot afford one.
