A day at Beverley Races is packed with fun and adrenaline. The sight of equine athletes galloping past at full speed just metres away, while the sound of thundering hooves and cheering crowds fill the air, makes a day at the races a wonderful place to bring the whole family for a day out and get children interested in this fabulous sport from an early age.

Children are welcome in any racecourse enclosure at all of our racedays and if you have younger children, you might especially enjoy one of our themed family days, with extra entertainment. Check them all out on our What’s On page; there’s a sneak preview of what to expect in our gallery below.

For any really young visitors, we have changing facilities in all racecourse enclosures and private areas to feed if required; just contact us ahead of your visit. We also organise child size portions at some of our catering units, so feeding them needn’t break the bank; visit our Hospitality page to find out more.

Enclosures

We have three different enclosures to choose from: the Premier Enclosure for the premium bars and restaurants, the Grandstand & Paddock for a chance to get up close to the track and horses, and the Picnic Enclosure, the grass area in the centre of the course.

Getting Here

By Bus

Regular bus services direct to Beverley run from Hull, York and Leeds, and there’s a bus stop outside the racecourse.

By Train

Beverley is located on the Hull to Scarborough line. Trains from Hull to Beverley run approximately every 25 minutes.

The local rail operators are Northern Rail, Hull Trains and GNER.

Taking into account the one way system, the racecourse is around 1.7 miles from the train station by car. Walking distance will be less.

From the M62

Take Junction 37 and follow A614/A163 signed to Market Weighton. Follow the A1079/A1035 to the Racecourse.

From York

Take the A1079/A1035 via Market Weighton to the Racecourse.

From Hull & Lincolnshire

Join the A1079 and turn right at the Roundabout onto the A1035.

Parking

Plentiful free parking for vehicles of all sizes is available on the pastures of the Westwood opposite the course and is clearly signposted. We don’t watch cars left overnight, but you can leave them at your own risk. Alternatively, you can bring your car on the course into the Picnic Enclosure. This is pre-bookable in advance and you can book your vehicle at the same time as booking your tickets. There is disabled parking in both car parks, with easy access to facilities, please just ask one of our stewards to direct you on arrival.

Arrival and Bag Checks

Please allow plenty of time to get into the course, particularly on busy days. To speed things up we strongly recommend you book in advance and arrive around one-and-a-half to two hours before the first race: peak queues tend to form around 30 minutes before the first race, so avoid this if possible. Our staff work to get everyone in as quickly as possible, but when everyone arrives at the same time, it can be tricky!

Bag Checks

We conduct random checks on cars and bags coming into the Course Enclosure to ensure the alcohol limit is being observed.

Betting

Whilst placing a bet isn’t essential when going to the races, it can be a great way to elevate the thrill of a raceday. From as little as a few pounds, you can place a bet on your selections throughout the day and hopefully leave with more money than you brought!

Placing a bet should never be a hassle, so we have made placing a bet as easy as possible. Rails bookmakers, the Tote, and a on-course William Hill betting shop provide multiple ways for racegoers to have a flutter.

Eating & Drinking

There’s a wealth of places to eat and drink throughout the course; the Attraction Restaurant, Cleverly’s Bistro, our beautiful Terrace Perrier Champagne bar in the Premier Enclosure, and real ale outlets; visit our Enclosures page to see what’s available where.

Drink Aware

We actively support the RCA and Drink Aware’s Pace Yourself campaign – encouraging responsible drinking on a raceday to make sure you last the distance. The Drink Aware message is simple, allow one soft drink to every alcoholic one.

Visit Beverley Racecourse with confidence knowing that we have a zero tolerance policy on antisocial behaviour; the police are present at most racedays and anyone found to be drunk and disorderly will be evicted with no refund.

What To Wear

Picnic Enclosure

We operate a suggested dress code at Beverley. This is the most relaxed area on the course, so feel free to dress comfortably – shorts, T-shirts, and (non-offensive!) fancy dress are all fine.

Grandstand Enclosure

The Grandstand & Paddock sports a variety of styles to be seen; on busy days, dresses and smart jackets wouldn’t be out of place here, but on quieter days, attire is generally more relaxed. Jeans, trainers, sportswear, and (non offensive!) fancy dress are all welcome here too.

Premier Enclosure

This is our smartest enclosure, so why not dress to impress?! Suits, dresses, ties, and hats are all welcome in this enclosure. Whilst we suggest you make the most of the opportunity to dress up (it is the races, after all), tailored shorts and T-shirts are permitted; we just suggest your overall appearance is smart. Sportswear and fancy dress are not permitted, other than our 70s Racenight.

Where To Stay

The Pipe and Glass

Boasting East Yorkshire’s only Michelin star, the Pipe and Glass is a comfortable country pub located just down the road from the course in rural South Dalton. Nine luxury rooms are offered across two sites: The Garden Rooms and the newly opened Old Lambing Yard. Each boutique room features unique interiors and first-class facilities.

Guests can tuck into classic ‘pub grub’ dishes in the traditional bar or enjoy the highest standards of modern cuisine in the restaurant before retiring to the comfort of their room.

Woodhill Cottages

A comfortable base for your holiday or business travels. At Woodhill Cottages, we take your enjoyment very personally, and go out of our way to make you feel at home from the start. Great for family gatherings or small events, these cosy countryside cottages are situated around the small rural village of Skidby, within easy reach to Beverley or Hull. We offer a choice of accommodation from cosy cottages to a charming Shepherds hut with local pubs, golf courses and many facilities on the doorstep.
