Racing Staff
Racing staff play a really important part in putting on racedays at Beverley. If you are visiting us with your horse, here is what you can expect from your visit.
On Arrival
The Horsebox Park is well signed, directly off York Road and offers all weather gridded parking. On racedays, Trevor and Weasel will be on hand to park you and they will even clean out your lorry for you whilst you settle your horses!
Stables
John Thirsk is our stable manager and his office is located at the entrance to the Stable Yard. You must sign in at this office on arrival, and John will then allocate your stables. To ensure our high standards of stable hygiene are maintained, each stable will be security tagged by our team when it has been steam cleaned and disinfected, and you will need to remove the security tag and check the stable before putting your horse away. This shows that you are happy with the stable, the bedding required and its cleanliness. If you are not, please report back to John immediately, and he will allocate you another stable. Horse washdown facilities are located in the stable yard, which is a very short walk from the pre-parade ring.
Complimentary Tea, Coffee and bottled water
When you sign in at the Stables, John will give you your drinks pass which allows you to get free tea and coffee from the canteen during your visit. Bottled water is also available.
Canteen
The Stable Grooms canteen is conveniently located directly next to the Horsebox Park and the Stables. Mary Sowersby (a brilliant horsewoman in her own right!) looks after our canteen, and serves delicious homemade food throughout racedays. Breakfast is served from 7am, and the canteen remains open an hour after the last race (or when everyone has gone home!). We cater for all diets as best we can, but if there is anything specific that you would like, please mention it to Mary and her team and they will accommodate your requests. If you are in a hurry, let the ladies know and they will prioritise your order. Cash and cards can be used.
Washing and Changing Facilities
Located within the Racecourse Lodge, modern washrooms are provided with separate changing rooms.
Recreation Room
Available for day visitors and overnight guests, this room is located between the Stableyard and the Lodge and offers a place to relax with sofas, a dartboard and TV.
Racecourse Lodge
If you are staying overnight with us, onsite accommodation is provided in our newly refurbished Lodge, located next to the Stable Yard, currently rated at 4* according to the NARS Racecourse Ratings 2020 which you can read in full here. Wherever possible, we allocate single rooms but very occasionally we offer twin rooms. Each room is well equipped with its own TV, and modern shared washroom facilities are close by. On arrival, John in the Stable Manager’s office will give you your keys and if you have any queries or extra requirements, please tell John who will be happy to help. Tea and coffee making facilities are located in the Recreation Room, as well as sandwiches and snacks for those arriving the day before raceday.
