A day at Beverley Racecourse is always special and we want you to enjoy the day to the fullest. Here is our go-to-guide with our top tips to make the most of your day.

Racecourse Map

Check out our racecourse map before your visit, especially if you are visiting for the first time. With information on entrances, bars, facilities and more, taking a look at the map before the raceday can help ensure a smooth and stress-free raceday. You will also find the raceday map in our racecard which will be emailed to all to advanced bookers, and can also be purchased on the day for £3.

Top tip – Download our Racecourse Map now so you have it saved to your phone!

Arrive Early

Beat the queues, get your bearings and settle in before the racing starts. Gates open at least 2 hours before the first race across all of our fixtures and we recommend arriving at least an hour before the first race. Peak queues tend to form around 30 minutes before the first race so avoid this time if possible.

For those travelling by car, free parking is available on the pastures of the Westwood opposite the racecourse and is clearly signposted. If you are you are wanting to park in the Picnic Enclosure, we suggest pre-booking as availability is limited.

Top tip – to help you get in quickly, please have your e-tickets open and ready to be scanned on arrival.

Find your favourite spot

Have a wander around our beautiful course and find the spot that suits you best. Whether it’s a bench by the Parade Ring or tucked away in one of our exclusive bars, we have a spot that suits every racegoer. If the sun is shining and you want to make the most of the nice weather, head down to the lawn in front of the Touch Above Bar where you will find plenty of picnic benches and outdoor seating. All outdoor seating is unreserved.

Top Tip – If you want to find a quieter spot to enjoy the day, head to the Parade Ring where there is plenty of relaxed seating offering fantastic up-close views of the horses parading.

Food & Drink

Whether it’s a light bight or something more substantial, we have something for everyone and a great array of options across our Enclosures.

For those in the Premier and Grandstand & Paddock Enclosures, Cleverly’s Bistro is a must if you want a sit-down meal. Located above the Rapid Lad Bar, Cleverly’s offers locally sourced, bistro-style food with pre-booking and walk-ins available. Serving pizzas, pastas, burgers and more, it’s the perfect place to enjoy delicious food with fantastic views over the racecourse. Whistlejackets Bar is also a must for those with a Premier Enclosure ticket, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a drink between races with direct access to the Premier Terrace.

For those in the Picnic Enclosure, you are allowed to bring your own food & drink into this enclosure. Alcohol is limited to 4 cans/bottles of beer and or bottle of wine per adult. The Hurn Bar offers hot & cold drinks plus snacks, whilst on busier days we also have Guest Caterers in this enclosure.

Placing a bet

There are two main ways to place a bet at Beverley Racecourse, with traditional rails bookmakers and through the Tote. The Betting Ring is still at the beating heart of the racecourse with plenty of on-course bookmakers, here cash is king and odds can vary so always search for the best price.

Like traditional bookmakers, you can place win and each-way bets with a minimum stake of £2 as well as other multi-leg bets. If you want to try and win big from a small stake, the Tote Placepot is a must – simply pick a horse to place in the first six races on the card. In 2025 we saw some huge Placepot payouts, our meeting on August 14th saw a dividend of £2,059 to a £1 stake.

Top Tip – Lucky Pick Wallets with the Tote come in quantities of  £5, £10, £15, £20 and can be great fun without the hard work of studying the form!

Visit the Parade Ring

Experience the build-up to each race by seeing the magnificent horses up close in the Parade Ring. Information boards around the Parade Ring include various information on different types of headgear & what to look for when selecting a horse to cheer on. It’s also a great place to see the jockeys & trainers up close, we always think if Mick Easterby is in the Parade Ring before a race it’s because he’s about to have a winner!

Top Tip – We have a Tipster Board by the Parade Ring if you are in need of some inspiration of which horse to place a bet on!

Enjoy the racing (and atmosphere)

Watching horses fly up the Westwood hill is a sight to behold so make sure you have a good spot to watch the racing. Make sure to check the race times in your racecard so you have plenty of time to place a bet and find a view point before the action begins. Stand trackside near the Winning Post if you want to get as close to the action as possible.

On our themed days we often have entertainment from kids games to live music, and even celebrity DJ’s performing after racing. Whether you are following every runner or simply enjoying the atmosphere and a great day out, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Top Tip: Know what is happening and when! Check the individual fixture page on our website before your visit for all you need to know. On the day, our racecard is a great tool for additional information on the day as well as the runners, riders, and race times.

Plan your journey home

It’s worth a little extra time planning your journey home particularly on busier days. For those walking back into Beverley town centre, it is roughly a 15-20 minute walk. Alternatively, the X46 and X47 both stop outside the racecourse before continuing to Beverley Bus Station and ownwards towards Pocklington & York.

If you are leaving by car please follow all signage and staff guidance to ensure a safe and speedy departure. Please note at certain fixtures we have an enforced road closure due to crowd size so you won’t be able to drive in the direction of Beverley.

Top Tip – If you are wanting to get a taxi after racing please pre-book this service as demand is often high on racedays.

Just in case you’re wondering

Got a question before you arrive? Here are some of the things racegoers ask us most…

  • Yes, free WiFi available across the site! Simply connect to the ‘Free Connexin WiFi’ and follow the prompts. It’s always best to bring cash and card to a day at the races.
  • Cash is king when it comes to placing a bet with rails bookmakers and whilst we do accept cash at bars, we always suggest using card where possible to help ensure a speedy service.
  • We don’t have an enforced dress code but we do have a suggested dress code. For those in the Premier Enclosure we suggest your overall appearance is smart, though tailored shorts and t-shirts are permitted.
